Benefits of the Scholarship:

There will be two Oxford Brookes University Sanctuary Scholarships available which will include:

  1. A full fee waiver (you do not need to pay fees)
  2. Cash bursary of £4,000
  3. Financial support is equivalent to £8,000 towards accommodation. Those living in halls of residence will automatically receive this support; those in private accommodation will be required to provide proof of living costs as described in the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
  4. Guaranteed accommodation in University halls of residence for 52 weeks per year

Requirements for Oxford Brookes Sanctuary Scholarships

Scholars with the following immigration statuses who meet the relevant course entry requirements and are not in receipt of, or qualified for government student financial support, are qualified to apply:

  1. Asylum seeker
  2. Unaccompanied asylum seeking child
  3. Limited leave to remain (as a result of an asylum application
  4. Discretionary Leave to remain (as a result of an asylum application)
  5. The family member of someone with one of the immigration statuses listed above with ‘in line’ or ‘dependent’ status.
  6. The Oxford Brookes University Sanctuary Scholarships will be open to students who receive an offer (or awaiting a decision) for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught course, including foundation year courses. Courses taught at Partner Colleges are not qualified.

How to Apply

  1. Applicants will need to apply through UCAS and hold an offer from our Admissions Team.
  2. Applications will only be assessed if they are accompanied by a Referee Supporting Statement that is signed and dated. This will need to be uploaded as part of the online form.
  3. Candidates will also be needed to provide proof of their immigration status.

Personal Statement Section

This section evaluates your suitability for the Sanctuary Scholarship. Please make sure that in your answers you have included:

  1. Your reason for wanting to access higher education, including your future purposes and ambitions and how your chosen course will help you achieve these.
  2. The difficulties you have faced in continuing your education and how you have tried to overpower these.
  3. Details of your financial circumstances and any prior applications you have made for funding.
